Out Now: Sad About The Times

“A charming picture of what was going on at the fringes at the time: a truly alternative scene made up of artists and bands who knew what the mainstream required but were too weird to quite get there.” – All Music (4/5)

Anthology Recordings’ latest compilation, curated by Mikey Young(Total Control / Eddy Current Suppression Ring) and Keith Abrahamsson (Founder / Head of A&R at Anthology Recordings) is an an exploration of 70s FM folk, soft rock, west coast jangle, power pop and late night jams. SAD ABOUT THE TIMES is a companion piece of sorts to
Follow the Sun – a collection of 70s FM through a distinctly Australian lens assembled by the same duo.

These songs come in the wake of the psychedelic sixties, after the high-flying idealism had run its course and singer songwriters were ascendant. Every song on Sad About The Times could have been a hit, each with a different flavor, all subtly conveying universal emotions that are hard to describe but easy to feel.
