Honored and excited to be welcoming Brooklyn-born and based experimentalist and multi-instrumentalist L’Rain to the Mexican Summer family!! Today, L’Rain has announced news of her forthcoming album Fatigue and shared lead single “Two Face”.

Having dipped her toes in every corner of the arts, through her work at some of the most prestigious art institutions in NYC, including MoMa PS1, and collaborations with Naama Tsabar, Kevin Beasley, and Justin Allen, L’Rain’s second full-lenghth Fatigue is a heavily blended collection of genres including gospel, jazz, neo-soul, post-punk, and R&B. “Two Face” bounces between two voices, one of lightness and the other of darkness, and is coupled with a Reese Donohue directed video created using volumetric video technology and real time rendering.

Pre-order Fatigue

This is a song about a falling out with a friend. The friend was a gemini, hence the title “Two Face.” The song is a disjointed imaginary conversation between us. The “spooky” parts of the song have the most optimistic lyrics, and the “sunny” parts have the bleakest lyrics. The song is mostly a reflection on regret, because the dissolution of our friendship was absolutely my fault and it still haunts me. – L’Rain
