Marfa Myths is a cultural program taking place March 13 – 15, 2015 in Marfa, Texas curated by Mexican Summer and co-presented with Ballroom Marfa.
Programming for 2015 includes Jefre Cantu-Ledesma creating a 90-minute sound bath at holistic wellness center The Well. Gregg Kowalsky will perform a new iteration of Tape Chants – a live sound installation that explores the acoustics where the performances occur by setting up boomboxes and cassette players around a space, using only the cassette players’ speakers for amplification. Liz Harris (recording artist Grouper) will be in residence creating an outdoor mural which will be on view over the weekend. Dev Hynes and Connan Mockasin will be in residence at Marfa Recording Co. recording new collaborative tracks which will later be released on a 12″ EP.
Live programming throughout the weekend will include sets from Iceage, Grouper, Tamaryn, Steve Gunn, Weyes Blood, GABI, Thug Entrancer, Co La, Bitchin Bajas, LBS. and Suicideyear.
