Quilt – Live at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

To celebrate the release of their 3rd LP, Plaza, Quilt returned to their hometown in Boston to take the stage at the city’s Museum of Fine Arts. Several members of the band studied art in college, making Boston’s MFA a nostalgic homecoming that celebrated not only their new record, but their accomplishments as a band an individual artists over the past several years. Making the show extra special, Quilt brought a string ensemble with them for the entirety of the performance.
Take a peek, and seize the opportunity to watch Quilt play live with the string ensemble again at Bowery Ballroom in New York on June 23rd, with support from Widowspeak.

Tamaryn Takes A Doomed Midnight Drive in “Sugarfix” Video

Sugar Fix Chains
This morning, Tamaryn premiered a new video for “Sugarfix,” the latest single from her third LP Cranekiss.

Shot on a desolate road in California’s Mojave desert, the video gives a noir, Lynchian texture to this celestial track. In an interview with Dazed, who premiered the “Sugarfix” video, Tamaryn says “Obviously Lost Highway influenced some of the main shots […] I wanted to do something simple, dark, and beautiful without needing to rely too much on narrative or shock value.”

The narrative of “Sugarfix” is indeed dreamy, evoking darkness from the beginning through twisted ending.

In addition, Tamaryn has announced an upcoming stint of tour dates, including three nights supporting legendary ’90s shoegaze band Lush. In addition, Tamaryn just added a performance in Dana Point, California, at Salt Creek Park with Allah-Las, and another show in Portland at Holocene with Tender Age. See full tour dates below.

Hear Torn Hawk’s New Single, “With My Back To The Tower”

With one month until the release of the forthcoming album Union and Return, Torn Hawk shares a new single titled “With My Back To The Tower.” Union and Return is the third album from Torn Hawk, aka Luke Wyatt, composed entirely in Wyatt’s home in Berlin. A new resident to the city, the album is highly inspired by Berlin’s art museums, full of 19th century Romantic paintings.
The result is melodic, with heavy nods to classical music from a contemporary electronic standpoint. “With My Back To The Tower” has been called an “ominous, tricky instrumental” by Stereogum, and also received praise from Thump, who spoke with Wyatt in this interview.

Union and Return comes out on May 13th. Pre-orders of the album in vinyl and digital formats are available now, with “Feeling is Law” and “With My Back To The Tower” available as immediate downloads to anyone who pre-orders.

Pre-order the album here.
